Popis:	We present a comparison between the performances of “Strength Reduction” and “Unloading” techniques in the computational application of the so-called “Material Factor Approach” to the stability assessment of tunnel faces. In this framework, we also propose a new unloading-based safety factor for tunnel stability, as an effective alternative to a commonly used, but faulty, loading-based safety factor.
