Brotizolam versus triazolam for the treatment of insomnia in anxious patients

Popis: The efficacy and tolerability of brotizolam versus triazolam in the treatment of anxious insomniac patients was evaluated in a double-blind, parallel-group study. Of the 108 patients enrolled in the study, 53 patients received brotizolam 0.25 mg and 55 received triazolam 0.25 mg at bedtime in the first week and placebo in the second week of treatment. Patients previously treated with anxiolytic and hypnotic drugs completed a 7-day washout period. After the week of active treatment, both drugs had significantly improved two of the three main sleep parameters (time to fall asleep and total sleep duration) and reduced the mean anxiety scores as evaluated by the Hamilton and Zung anxiety scales ( P P
