Popis:	A method for the quantification of 5,5-diphenylhydantoin (DPH) in serum is described. The drug is isolated and identified by thin-layer chromatography following a one-step ether extraction. The DPH is removed from the chromatogram and quantified colorimetrically. Serum levels found by this method were compared with those obtained with a gas chromatography method. An isotope dilution modification which provides more efficient and accurate estimation of recovery for each individual specimen is also described. The method has been developed to meet the needs of monitoring drug therapy and the more urgent demands of acute overdosage.
