Popis: | Computed tomograph (CT) scans of the lumbar spine performed with a high-resolution scanner can demonstrate many of the findings of lumbar disc disease, including degeneration, bulging, protrusion, and herniation. Abnormal discs may be identified in situ by changes in their attenuation characteristics. Herniated disc fragments are readily demonstrated by abnormalities in the epidural space. Associated foraminal or central stenosis can be detected, providing the surgeon with important information prior to exploration.
