Popis: In this chapter we highlight two important forms of hollow and porous materials: particles and fibers and also discuss about the techniques to make them. These two forms of materials find applications in biomaterials, drug release, thermal insulations, dielectric materials, catalysis, molecular separations, lightweight structural reinforcements, etc. Many of the fabrication techniques are quite versatile in that we can use a single technique to make structures and voids over several length scales and geometries. We give examples of particles and fibers made from polymers, metals, and ceramics.
