Popis: | Four patients with heterotopic bone in laparotomy scars have been seen recently at the Mayo Clinic. Three of the four were women, and, apparently, their cases are the first for women with this condition to be reported within the last forty-eight years. In two patients the heterotopic bone formed in the remarkable time of fourteen and eighteen days, respectively. It is suggested that the development of heterotopic bone in laparotomy scars frequently is caused by the implantation of either vesical or gastric mucosa into the wound at the time of operation. |
