Popis: Asynchronous motors (AM) are the most common electrical consumers. The share of AM of all power consumers operating at voltages up to 1000 V is up to 70% of the total number. The main reason for electric machines service life reduction in severe environment pollution with dust is accelerated aging of the insulation of the stator windings. In consequence of the fact that a number of enterprises of Ukraine changed from scheduled preventive maintenance to repairs in case of emergency, the timely detection of abnormal operating conditions of AM is the key to trouble-free operation of the enterprise. The thickness of the dust layer, for engines with the power of 50 kW and more, may vary from 2 to 5 centimeters, while the lower part of the frontal winding remains clean. The dust layer on the surface of the insulation windings AM leads to a decrease in heat transfer and a local increase in the temperature of the insulation under the dust layer. Development of a method for diagnosing the causes of thermal overload of the stator windings insulation and temperature protection of AM, determining the conditions for the onset of maintenance, the creation of algorithms and software for devices for temperature protection of AM is a pressing task. According to the equation of heat balance of AM and taking into account the decrease of heat flow from the insulation of the stator winding to the air, assuming the walls of dust plane-parallel, the expression for determining the critical coating of insulation with dust has been obtained, which is the criterion for determining the initial moment of preventive work. Theoretical and experimental studies have made it possible for us to develop a new method of AM temperature protection. The novelty of the method consists of measuring and comparing the temperatures of thermal sensors installed on the dusty and non-dusty surfaces of the insulation of the stator winding of the AM. It has been established that the term of AM operation in dusty environments, depends on local overheating of the insulation. 3 cm and more dust layer on the surface of the insulation shortens the life of AM by 1,8-2,3 times. The criterion for determining the initial moment of the maintenance is the temperature difference of the insulation covered and not covered with dust, which does not exceed 50°С. Simultaneous surpassing of the insulation temperature at the measurement points above the permissible value is a criterion for either the AM damage or the driving gear damage, or the presence of asymmetrical voltage in the mains; in this case the AM must be disconnected from the mains
