Popis: | Background: Mandibular fractures with sagittal splittingand splaying of both the lingual and buccal cortices poses achallenge in their fixation as screws may push the lingualcortex during screw tightening resulting in widening of themandible. Methods: Screw lagging inside the lower mandibular platetechnique may help approximation of the near and far corticesduring screw tightening, this was applied for eight cases withmandibular fractures. Results: The splaying between the two cortices wasprevented regaining its normal medullary space width. Conclusion: Using the screw lagging inside the platetechnique may be a safe technique used in mandibular fracturesthat have cortical splaying |
