| Popis: | After some general remarks on secular stability and stellar evolution, the problem is discussed by means of the small perturbation method. Apart from recovering very simply the usual criteria of dynamical and vibrational stability, this leads, for secular stability, to a fourth order differential problem which seems more tractable than previous formulations. In the case of purely homologous motions which however do not correspond, in general, to a possible solution of the problem, one recovers the usual criterion. Ledoux Paul.
