Popis: | There is growing evidence that a significant proportion of child sexual abuse is enacted by otherchildren and young people (ABS 2020; Bromfield, Hirte, Octoman & Katz 2017; Ey & McInnes 2018;2020; McKibbin et al. 2017). In Australia, the number of minors who have been convicted of sexualassault and related offences has increased by 18% in the last decade, rising from 1158 convictions in2009-10 to 1399 convictions in 2019-20 (ABS 2020). Of the approximately 8,000 survivors of childsexual abuse who shared their personal stories with the Royal Commission into InstitutionalResponses to Child Sexual Abuse, around 12% discussed being harmed by another child(Commonwealth of Australia 2017) and other Australian research estimates that between 30-60% ofchildhood sexual abuse has been enacted by another child (El-Murr 2017) Refereed/Peer-reviewed |
