Popis: | Decreases in striatal dopamine receptors during aging are related to deficits in motor functions, and are highly correlated with the D2 receptor subtype. Some receptor loss is attributed to cell death, while the remainder is thought to be related to synthetic capacity. We discuss here our findings, for isolated rat striatal nuclei, which indicate a 50% overall decrease in the synthesis of the dopamine D2 mRNA in aged nuclei. |
