Popis: | Summary The results of induction of labour by amniotomy with simultaneous commencement of dilute oxytocin infusion have been compared with those using amniotomy alone. The shorter induction delivery interval in the former group was associated with a decreased incidence of (1) maternal acidosis, (2) operative delivery, (3) genital tract infection, and (4) low Apgar scores. Less analgesia was required when simultaneous oxytocin was used. There was an increased incidence of hypertension in labour in those with hypertension prior to induction if oxytocin was infused. |
