Popis: The postulate that keratinous protein in psoriatic epidermis is abnormal has been the subject of much discussion (1, 2). At present, there is no direct evidence that the disturbed keratinization in psoriasis results in the synthesis of an abnormal protein. Current knowledge indicates that in psoriasis there is an eightfold acceleration of the keratinization process over that found in normal epidermis (3). Whether the faulty fibrillar aggregation (4-7) found in psoriasis is secondary to this acceleration in keratinization or to the synthesis of an abnormal protein is not known.
