Use of various animal erythrocytes for in vitro cultivation of Plasmodium berghei

Popis:	Suitability of various animal erythrocytes for cultivation of P. berghei in vitro was evaluated. The erythrocytes used were from the albino rat, house rat, hamster, guinea pig, horse, monkey, fowl, cat, dog, buffalo, bandicoot rat, shrew, rabbit, sheep, cow, cotton rat, man and mouse. The erythrocytes from hamster, guinea pig, horse, monkey and albino rat supported sustained parasite multiplication in vitro . However the erythrocytes from other animals supported poor parasite multiplication and were therefore found unsuitable.
