Popis: | Preeclampsia is an important disorder of pregnancy that carries a severe morbidity and mortality risk for both mother and fetus. A large number of studies have shown that abnormalities in nitric oxide synthesis may contribute to the development of preeclampsia. We examined the relationship between the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene 4b/a and T-786C polymorphisms with preeclampsia (PE) in 123 preeclamptic pregnant women and 142 healthy pregnant women in the southeast of Iran. Our findings indicate that the 4b/a and T-786C polymorphisms of eNOS gene do not have any association with preeclampsia, but we found that the risk of preeclampsia was twofold in Afghan women in contrast to Persian and Balooch women. In a backward stepwise multiple regression analysis, the Afghan race and the history of preeclampsia were the risk factors for preeclampsia. We conclude that the presence of 4b/a and T-786C polymorphisms were not risk factors for preeclampsia. |
