Popis: | Comparison of the number of gallbladder operations carried out in 1961 and 1971 in three similar towns in Canada, France, and England suggest that the incidence of gallbladder disease is six times higher in North America than in Western Europe, and nine times higher for patients below the age of 35. The number of cholecystectomies had doubled in all three countries over ten years. The relative preponderance of thin people with gallstones in the North American studies points to the need for careful prospective dietary studies. |
