Popis: | The effect on apparent rotational temperatures (of OH) of adjacent radiating and absorbing regions at different temperatures and of spectral line shape, coupled with varying degrees of self-absorption, has been studied. The calculations emphasize the fact that definitive conclusions regarding interpretation of flame spectra are difficult to obtain by use of conventional low-resolution spectroscopic studies of flames. Multiple path experiments, or absorption studies with a discrete line source, appear promising provided they are restricted to conditions under which the spectral line shape is known. |
