In this project, we are interested in whether people perceive groups that are composed of multiple minority groups (e.g., "people of color" as an outgroup consisting of multiple subgroups) as more similar to each other than majority groups (e.g., White people). This work is an extension of research on the outgroup homogeneity effect, wherein people perceive outgroups as more homogeneous than their ingroups. Here, we test whether majority group members view even diverse groups made up of multiple subgroups as more homogeneous than their own ingroup. |
