Popis: | The development of intracavernosal injections for the treatment of impotence represents a significant clinical advance. However, some patients with organic and mixed impotence cannot adapt to nor enjoy the benefits of the injection-induced erections because of hidden emotional and martial problems. In our experience, the use of sex therapy techniques, which were originally developed to overcome resistances to the behavioral modification of sexual symptoms, is effective in helping some of these patients overcome their resistances to pharmacotherapy. Conversely, when used within the context of psychodynamically oriented sex therapy, the injections can be useful adjuvants for managing the resistances of certain patients with psychogenic impotence. |
