Popis: | Angiogenesis is important in tumor biology, ischemic diseases, wound healing and many other areas. In our study, we studied the effect of overexpression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in mouse embryonic stem cells (10T1/2 cells)through retroviral transfection. Blood vessels are made of 2 types of cells namely perictyes/smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells. 10T1/2 cells are considered to be the progenitor cells of pericytes/smooth muscle cells. 10T1/2 cells do not express VEGF when they are cultured alone and our study showed that even after co-culturing them with endothelial cells (ECs) for more than 5 days did not induce VEGF production. We showed that 10T1/2 cells were being able to be transfected by this method which resulted in overexpression of the VEGF transgene as well as the GFP transgene (our control). |
