Popis: | The basal gastric secretions from 12 patients with myasthenia gravis were compared to the basal gastric secretions obtained from two control groups of comparable age and sex. One control group came from 116 male subjects studied by one of us (H.S.), and the second control group was obtained from 615 male subjects and 634 female subjects reported in the literature. The mean total acid output from our male myasthenia gravis patients was reduced 85%, and the mean total acid output from our female myasthenia gravis patients was depressed 39%. This reduced basal gastric secretion is probably the result of the acetylcholine defect. |
