Popis: The management of increased intracranial pressure is a common clinical scenario encountered in a large portion of medicine. It is encountered more often in the practices of trauma, neurology and neurological surgery and as such is very common in intensive care settings. Treatment approaches remain one of the more controversial fields in medicine. In this chapter we will address the treatment approaches for elevated intracranial pressure. Indications for assessment, clinical considerations and approaches to proper management of elevated pressures focusing mainly on the decompressive craniectomy. We will address the role of the decompressive craniectomy in trauma stroke and address the option of lumbar drainage.
