| Popis: | Staphylococcus aureus infections are a major cause of morbidity in both hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients. The availability of a safe and effective protective vaccine would be of great benefit to these patients, but attempts at using vaccines consisting of inactivated whole cells have been unsuccessful. This article discusses an alternate approach to S. aureus vaccine design using a capsular polysaccharide conjugate and preliminary results in hemodialysis and peritoneal patients. |
