Popis: INTRODUCTION AND AIM:The Crossfit training consists of varied and high intensity exercises that involve weight lifting, Olympic gymnastics and functional training, which provide physical fitness and contribute to health. The objective was to evaluate the evolution of the level of physical conditioning of Crossfit practitioners and to relate the result to the prevention of diseases and maintenance of health. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was a quantitative cross-sectional study, with the participation of 30 Crossfit practitioners of both genders, aged between 30 and 50 years. The study was carried out in a Crossfit Box. The AMRAP test (as many rounds-repetitions as possible) composed of as many sets as possible was applied in 15 min of 15 burpees, 15 deadlifts and 15 sit-ups to assess the performance of the practitioners. To evaluate aerobic fitness, the 12-min test was applied, with the objective of covering the longest distance possible and calculating the maximum oxygen consumption (VO2 max). The data of the blood biochemical were obtained from tests performed by the participants in the last five years, being analyzed as risk indicators for chronic diseases. RESULTS: It can be seen that the Crossfit practitioner has similar physical performance, regardless of the training time. But the modality guarantees maintenance of muscular and aerobic resistance, in addition to an adequate profile for the prevention of chronic diseases. CONCLUSION: Thus, we conclude that Crossfit is a versatile and dynamic modality that helps in the physical conditioning of the practitioner regardless of their age profile and nutritional status.
