| Popis: | Recent studies of Rickettsia tsutsugamushi have demonstrated clearly the phenotypic and genotypic differences between this microorganism and other species belonging to the genus Rickettsia. Therefore, classification of R. tsutsugamushi in a new genus, Orientia gen. nov., is proposed. |
