Appearance of 3 H 2 O in rat tissues resulting from the metabolism of L-( 3 H) fucose by intestinal bacteria

Popis:	Large amounts of 3 H 2 O were found in the brain and other tissues of rats after the intraperitoneal injection of L -[ 3 H] fucose. The amount of 3 H 2 O formed in conventional rats was 8 times higher than that formed in germ-free rats, suggesting that most of the 3 H 2 O was produced from metabolism of the radioactive fucose by intestinal bacteria.
