Popis: | We isolated 1,264 bacterial strains from forest soils previously surveyed via pyrosequencing of rRNA gene amplicons. Conventional culturing techniques recovered a substantial proportion of the community, with isolates representing 22% of 98,557 total pyrotags. Growth characteristics of isolates indicated that ecological traits were associated with relative abundances of corresponding pyrotag operational taxonomic units. |
