Popis: | Oxygen is removed from the bronchial tree during suctioning. 02 removal may also occur when no suction is being applied to the catheter. (This occurs if the side port or Y connector is too small to allow adequate inflow of atmospheric air.) Seriously ill patients may have a low tolerance to decreased 02 tensions. Frequently, their arterial PO2 is within the 50-60 mm. Hg range, increasing the risk of arrhythmias if suctioning increases hypoxemia. |
