Popis: | A multi-physics software framework has been used to develop a comprehensive heap leach model that allows the user to simulate reactive dissolution and flow through the stockpile. Based on the fundamental physics and chemistry, including reaction kinetics, mass and energy balances provide predictions of soluble species concentrations in the pregnant leach solution (i.e., heap discharge) and at locations throughout the heap and estimated temperatures within the heap. A description of the kinetic models employed for dissolution of the sulfide mineral species is provided for various copper minerals, including the estimation of electrochemical potential. Aspects of the electrochemical potential in a multi-physics based model, and its effect on process chemistry and on heap optimization, are discussed. |
