Popis: | Ovarian weight in rats administered physiological saline .5 mg D-6-methyl-8-cyanomethylergoline (6605 VUFB) or 1 mg 6605 VUFB by gavage daily Days 1 to 12 (Day 1 = unilateral ovariectomy) increased 47% 83% and 115% respectively over ovarian weight in intact rats given saline (p = .01 in each case). 6605 VUFB may induce secretion of hypophysial gonadotrophin by stimulating the hypothalamus to release FSH - and LH-releasing and prolactin-inhibiting factors. Daily treatment of unilaterally ovariactomized rats with 12 mg methallibure an inhibitor of gonadotrophin secretion followed by 1 mg 6605 VUFH resulted in no hypertrophy. |
