Popis: | SUMMARY 1) The authors reported a case of chronic glial nodular polioencephalitis. 2) Clinical course: onset at the age of 41 years; euphoric dementia; dysarthria; gait disturbance; hiccup; increased tendon reflexes; 7 years' duration of the illness. 3) Pathological features: glial nodules and perivascular infiltration in the cerebral cortex, hypothalamus, pontine basis, inferior olivary nucleus; foci of spongio-necrosis. 4) The clinicopathological comparison was made with the cases reported by Hara et al. and Kersting. 5) The present case was suspected virus encephalitis and considered belonging to Pette-Doring type of panencephalitis. The authors suggested the possibility that in this case early mental symptoms of SSPE set in the adult and remained more or less stationary. |
