âRubidouxâ and âEldoradoâ peach tree plantings, grafted onto seedlings of âBlanco comAonâ cultivar, were established on January 2011 at SoracAi, BoyacAi (Colombia), 2900 m a.s.l., to compare vegetative growth and reproductive behavior of differently trained trees (3 branches open vase, 4 branches open vase, delayed vase, fusetto, palmette and unpruned trees). The pruning operations were done in May and August 2012, respectively, 16 and 19 months after planting. Vegetative growth measurements were taken before and after pruning. The phenology and reproductive intensity of the trees were also recorded. Pruning seems to have a positive impact on the different parameters, especially on the vegetative growth of plants, volume, percentage of branches lignification and number of fruit branches, compared to the control. Best results on reproductive intensity are given by âEldoradoâ. |
