Popis: | In a 13 year period, 7 cases of histologically proved endometriosis externa were found at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria. This gives an incidence of 0.24 per cent of all gynecologic laparatomies performed within the same period. Two of the 7 patients were Caucasians, and the rest were Negroes. This very low incidence found among Nigerians is in agreement with previous reports which assert that endometriosis is very rare in the Negro race. The most recent patient who had concomitant umbilical, paraumbilical, and left inguinal node endometriosis is reported. We believe that unlike most cases of cutaneous endometriosis previously reported the lesions in this patient arose by transportation via the lymphatic vessels. |
