Popis: International audience; This chapter presents the work of a French Activity-Centered Ergonomics (FACE) research network within the electricity sector and puts it in perspective with the recent advances in sustainable development and energy research in human factors and ergonomics. It confirms the necessity of using multilevel and systemic approaches when addressing sustainability issues. It advocates for a deeper integration of human lived experience and activity dynamics into systemic approaches and demonstrates its feasibility. Echoing Dekker, Hancock, and Wilkin (2013), this article shows that human factors and ergonomics might develop toward sustainability not only by looking outside of the discipline (e.g., social sciences) but also by pursuing a dialogue between human factors and FACE approaches. This chapter is a small step in this direction.
