Popis: | This study examined the performance of temporal lobe and Korsakoff amnesic patients on two versions of the Brown-Peterson task. One version involved trials with distractor intervals ranging from three to 60 second. The other investigated the effects of massed versus distributed practice with a constant nine-second retention interval. Korsakoff patients produced significantly poorer performance on both versions of the task. Further analyses indicated that impaired Brown-Peterson performance was correlated with frontal dysfunction but not with the severity of the memory deficit. Previous inconsistencies concerning the performance of amnesic patients on the Brown-Peterson task are considered. |
