Popis: | Case A 57-year old female with multiple comorbidities including arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia, prior patent foramen ovale closure, and history of transient ischemic attack developed acute unilateral sensorineural hearing loss following arthroscopic shoulder surgery in the beach-chair position. The hearing loss persisted despite acute management by an otolaryngologist with a tapered oral steroid regimen. We review the literature for sensorineural hearing loss following orthopedic surgery and discuss potential etiologies as well as management options. Conclusion Sensorineural hearing loss is a very rare complication following arthroscopic shoulder surgery in the beach-chair position. |
