Unusual cases of pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas, with a note on thyroid carcinoma as a cause

Popis: MULTIPLE small pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas are recognized as a cause of central cyanosis, clubbed fingers and polycythemia. It has been held that these fistulas result from congenital vascular anomalies. Recent evidence suggests that some such lesions may not be congenital in origin. It is the purpose of this report to review that evidence and to present data on 2 patients with multiple small pulmonary arteriovenous fistulas, 1 of whom exhibited a previously unrecognized form of this disease.
