Popis: Near Field Magnetic Induction Communication (NFMIC) is emerging as an appreciatively beneficial physical layer access method in short range communication. Although it provides more secure, robust and power efficient system than traditional Electro-Magnetic (EM) RF-based systems, its capabilities and characteristics have not been widely studied. Therefore, in this paper, we have explored this technology from the link budget perspective, since this concept is one of the most fundamental requirements of any communication system. An efficient link budget is critical to the NFMIC systems where the power decreases with distance with higher rate than RF-based systems. We have thus examined the impacts of two channel models of Agbinya-Masihpour (AM) and Agbinya-Masihpour1 (AM1), which we have developed. We present these two models based on a common formalism. Then we have compared the performance of the two models in three different frequency bands 13.56MHz, 300MHz and 900MHz. According to the theoretical analysis as well as simulation results we have shown that the Agbinya-Masihpour model performs much higher than the Agbinya-Masihpour 1 model specifically in higher frequencies. The results suggest that longer distances are achievable through the Agbinya-Masihpour channel model.
