Gender as a key effect modifier of the relationship between physician work stressors and the acquired cardiovascular disorders

Popis: Introduction. To assess gender as an effect-modifier vis-?-vis exposure to work stressors and the acquired cardiovascular disorders (ACVD). METHOD The Occupational Stress Index for physicians was used in a case-control study (>90% participation rate) among physicians in Novi Sad (Cases: 50 males and 51 females with ACVD, Referents: 46 males and 61 females without ACVD). RESULTS. Patterns of disease manifestation, sociodemography, risk factors, Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) tendency and exposure to work stressors differed in male compared to female physicians with ACVD.
