The goal of this research was to determine the role of emotional intelligence and mental toughness on competitive anxiety in collegiate athletes. The scales used in this research were Competitive Anxiety Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale and Mental Toughness Scale. The respondents of this research were collegiate futsal athletes (N=106) who have participated on competition. Data analysis using multiple linear regression showed that both predictor variables contribute 28.1% (R2= 0.281, F = 20,083, p < 0.01) to the criterion variable. The contribution of mental toughness on competitive anxiety was â = -0,486, p < 0,01 while that of emotional intelligence was â = -0,069, p = 0,502. It can be concluded that mental toughness was more contributed than emotional intelligence to competitive anxiety. |
