Popis: | A series of 168 patients with radiographic evidence of esophageal disease was examined for the presence of esophagitis by the acid barium swallow method. The accuracy was verified by esophagoscopy in 138 patients and esophageal biopsy in 121 patients. The acid barium swallow proved to be more than 90 percent accurate in demonstrating the presence of esophagitis. This technique is a valuable, safe and reliable method of evaluating patients who are suspected of having esophagitis. |
