Modeling of Integrated Inductors with a Coplanar Ground Plane Using the PEEC Method

Popis: Today, an exhaustive library of models describing the electrical behavior of integrated passive components in the radio-frequency range is essential for the simulation and optimization of complex circuits. In this work, a physical model for planar spiral inductors is introduced, based on a circular PEEC method. A mutual inductance formula is derived to include a coplanar ground plane and extend the model to inductors with an incomplete outer turn. The numerical solution is also discussed, including an efficient inversion procedure.
