This report describes the results of ammonia, methane and nitrous oxide emission measurements on 2 farms for red meat veal calves between October 2018 and October 2020. The measurements were performed continuously using a measurement system equipped with sensors for ammonia, methane and carbon dioxide. Besides, reference measurements (ammonia, methane, nitrous oxide) according to current measurement protocols were performed every 2 months. Goal of the measurements was to determine the average emissions of methane (CH4), ammonia (NH3) andnitrous oxide (N2O) from red meat veal calves. No significant differences were found between the emissions determined by means of continuous measurements and based on the reference measurements. Due to the limited number of farms that were measured (n=2, of which 1 for youngred meat veal calves and 1 for old red meat veal calves), it was not possible to determine the variation between farms. For young red meat veal calves was the average emission ± standard deviation between measurements (SD; for the protocol measurements) 65.3 ± 35.4 g CH4 per day per animal, 7.6 ± 1.9 g NH3 per day per animal and 0.31 ± 0.13 g N2O per day per animal during the rearing period, and 141.3 ± 60.3 g CH4 per day per animal, 6.9 ± 1.9 g NH3 per day per animal and 0.23 ± 0.14 g N2O per day per animal for the fattening period. For the continuous measurements was for the rearing period the average emission 70.2 ± 38.7 g CH4 per day per animal and 8.0 ± 2.5 g NH3 per day per animal. For the fattening period was the average emission 143.5 ± 65.8 g CH4 per day per animal and 7.5 ± 2.7 g NH3 per day per animal. For old red meat veal calves was for the protocol measurements the average emission ± standard deviation between measurements (SD) 114.0 ± 51.6g CH4 per day per animal, 7.3 ± 3.6 g NH3 per day per animal and 0.23 ± 0.08 g N2O per day per animal for the rearing period, and 275.5 ± 129.1 g CH4 per day per animal, 11.5 ± 4.4 g NH3 per day per animal and 0.81 ± 0.57 g N2O per day per animal for the fattening period. For the continuous measurements was for the rearing period the average emission 114.1 ± 60.7 g CH4 per day per animal and 6.5 ± 3.8 g NH3 per day per animal. For the fattening period was the average emission 304.5 ± 107.6 g CH4 per day per animal and 13.9 ± 6.0 g NH3 per day per animal. No significant differences were found between the emissions determined by means of continuous measurements and those based on protocol measurements. Dit rapport beschrijft de resultaten van metingen van de emissies van methaan, ammoniak en lachgas die op 2 bedrijven voor roséleeskalveren zijn uitgevoerd in de periode van oktober 2018 t/m oktober 2020. De metingen zijn continue uitgevoerd (met behulp van een bedrijfsmonitoring systeem met sensoren voor ammoniak, methaan en kooldioxide). Daarnaast zijn elke twee maanden referentiemetingen volgens de huidige meetprotocollen uitgevoerd. Doel van de metingen was de emissies van methaan, ammoniak en lachgas uit traditionele huisvestingssystemen voor rosévleeskalveren vast te stellen. Het betrof één stal met jong rosë- en één stal voor oud rosékalveren. Door het leeftijdsverschil van de kalveren was het niet mogelijk om inzicht te krijgen in de spreiding tussen bedrijven. Voor jong rosé was voor de protocollaire metingen de gemiddelde emissie ± standaarddeviatie tussen metingen (SD) in de opfokfase 65,3 ± 35,4 g CH4 per dag per dier, 7,6 ± 1,9 g NH3 per dag per dier en 0,31 ± 0,13 g N2O per dag per dier, en in de afmestfase141,3 ± 60,3 g CH4 per dag per dier, 6,9 ± 1,9 g NH3 per dag per dier en 0,23 ± 0,14 g N2O per dag per dier. Voor de continue metingen was in de opfokfase voor jong rosé de gemiddelde emissie 70,2 ±38,7 g CH4 per dag per dier en 8,0 ± 2,5 g NH3 per dag per dier. Voor de afmestfase was de gemiddelde emissie 143,5 ± 65,8 g CH4 per dag per dier en 7,5 ± 2,7 g NH3 per dag per dier. Voor oud rosé was voor de protocollaire metingen de gemiddelde emissie ± standaarddeviatie tussen metingen (SD) in de opfokfase 114,0 ± 51,6 g CH4 per dag per dier, 7,3 ± 3,6 g NH3 per dag per dieren 0,23 ± 0,08 g N2O per dag per dier, en in de afmestfase 275,5 ± 129,1 g CH4 per dag per dier,11,5 ± 4,4 g NH3 per dag per dier en 0,81 ± 0,57 g N2O per dag per dier. Voor de continue metingen was bij de opfokfase de gemiddelde emissie 114,1 ± 60,7 g CH4 per dag per dier en 6,5 ± 3,8 g NH3 per dag per dier. Voor de afmestfase was de gemiddelde emissie 304,5 ± 107,6 g CH4 per dag per dier en 13,9 ± 6,0 g NH3 per dag per dier. Er zijn geen significante verschillen gevonden tussen de emissies die bepaald zijn door middel van continue metingen, en op basis van de protocollaire metingen. |
