Popis: | The term atrioventricular septal defect is synonymous with endocardial cushion defect and persistent atrioventricular canal malformation. The essential feature of these defects is that the upper part of the inlet septum i.e. the atrioventricular septum has failed to develop (1). Consequently, the connection between the interventricular inlet septum and the ventral part of the interatrial septum is absent. Atrioventricular septal defects can roughly be divided into two main forms i.e. the partial and the complete defects. |
