This paper discusses the issues of estimation of distribution parameters on interval data. It has to deal with interval data samples in situations when the exact value of the observation is unknown, only to the range to which the value belongs is known. In general, these intervals are different for each case and may intersect. The maximum likelihood method can be used for estimating the distribution parameters. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the statistical properties of maximum likelihood estimators (MLE) on interval data. The research was conducted in comparison with the estimates of the distribution parameters on point samples of observation interval midpoints. |
