Popis: Radioiodine has been used at the Mayo Clinic in the treatment of a certain limited group of patients with thyroidal cancer since 1947. In the main these patients have had distant metastatic foci that selectively concentrated radioiodine. The presence of actively functioning metastatic lesions can frequently be detected by carefully scanning the body with a suitable detector, such as a Geiger counter or scintillation counter. In order to detect or evaluate suspected regions of abnormal radioactivity, however, following the administration of tracer amounts of radioiodine, it is worthwhile to determine in some fashion the distribution patterns of radioactivity to be expected in patients without thyroidal cancer. We have found the technic to be described a simple, reliable, and useful one for the in vivo determination of distribution patterns of radioactivity in patients who have received tracer doses of radioiodine. Method and Group Studied Briefly, the method consists of measuring the counts per second reco...
