Popis: | Calf thymocytes were incubated in a tritium (HT) atmosphere or in tritiated water and the effect was studied of 5% Pd/BaSO4 on tritium incorporation. The tritium content of nonlipid cell components was negligible. All components of the lipid fraction incorporated tritium, the highest radioactivity being found in free fatty acids. The level of incorporation with HTO is not affected by the catalyst used. The tritiation of the lipid components does thus not proceed via catalytic hydrogenation or via an exchange reaction with HT, but metabolically. |
