Popis: | Summary In rats treated with varying doses of 1,10-phenanthroline the activity of aniline hydroxylase, morphine demethylase and the amount of cytochrome P 450 , aniline binding to the cytochrome and protein in liver microsomes were studied. A close correlation was found between the dose of the chelating agent and the activity of both microsomal oxidases. Single or few injections inhibited the activity of both enzymes without affecting the amount of cytochrome P 450 . Several injections at relatively high dose induced the cytochrome amount and significantly increased the binding of aniline to cytochrome P 450 and stimulated the activity of drug oxidizing system. The results are discussed in referrence to the protective effect of 1,10-phenanthroline against ethionine or dimethylnitrosamine induced liver injury. |
