Popis: | Recently, important structural changes have occurred on the supply and demand side of the labor market. This paper discusses the implications of these changes for regional policy making in the Netherlands. Suggestions for a new attack on regional problems are presented, which seem to be more radical diversions from the current practice than most other proposals which have recently been formulated. It is argued that the emphasis of policy on the demand side of the labor market is no longer self-evident. As alternative strategies for obtaining more equality in the interregional distribution of economic welfare, we propose policies oriented towards the supply side of the labor market and towards interpersonal transfers of income to compensate for interregional differences in earning capacities. |
