Popis:	The nucleotide sequences of 5 S rRNA from archaebacteria Methanolobus tindarius and Methanococcus thermolithotrophicus were determined. They can be fitted into a secondary structure model that shows features specific for archaebacterial 5 S RNAs, as documented in a previous study. Reconstruction of a phylogenetic tree on the basis of sequences from 15 archaebacterial species presently investigated allows one to discern five branches diverging at deep evolutionary levels within this primary kingdom.
